November 9 – 11, 2012 at the Crown Plaza, Springfield, IL.

I’ll will be attending Friday and Saturday. Look for me in the jam rooms. I’ll be toting the 1949 Martin D-28. It is for sale $6,000. Michael Cleveland recently played this guitar and said it had the same great tone as his own ’49 D-28… this was right after he tuned it perfectly by ear.

2012 IBMA Awards - Earl Scruggs Tribute

2012 IBMA Awards – Earl Scruggs Tribute

To end the IBMA Awards show last Thursday evening, Steve Martin gave an emotional tribute to Earl Scruggs which was followed by a huge banjo tribute. If you didn’t attend or watch the awards show live here is a video of part of that tribute.

Hopefully it won’t take too long for the Music City Roots folks to complete editing of the entire broadcast and make it available.

Have you ever felt like your bridge pins were sticking up too high?

Well… they probably are. Here is an example that came in the shop recently.

IBMA Awards Live Sept 27, 2012

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out

So you’ve never pulled the trigger on firing up the car and driving to Nashville to attend the IBMA Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium or IBMA Fanfest at the Renaissance Hotel?

No problem. This year the awards show will be streamed live on two internet sites. IBMA’s new BluegrassNation.org and at BluegrassToday.com

The production team of MusicCityRoots.com will be doing the shoot and streaming through both sites.

In addition, BluegrassToday.com will be providing pre-show interviews on the red carpet (seriously?… I’ve never seen a red carpet at this show). Actually the interviews will be from the BMI Nominees Reception held earlier in the evening.

Interviews start at 6:45 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m..

Here are your links for the live feed:

BluegrassToday.com

BluegrassNation.org

In addition, the show will be broadcast on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, WSM-AM and wsmonline.com.

This is the last year that the awards show, World of Bluegrass and Fanfest will be held in Nashville. It is moving to Raleigh, North Carolina beginning 2013 for at least three years. Get your butts down to this while it is still in driving distance.

Call 888-GET-IBMA to get your tickets and / or visit IBMA.org for more information.

Who’s nominated anyway? In the past 4 years my nominations have lined up pretty well with the results, this year, not so much and that is ok.
